Six days moving at the pace of a camel through the heart of Sinai — canyon after canyon, oasis after oasis, mountain after mountain, sleeping out under open sky each night. Led by Joseph and Annet together, with over 30 years of Sinai guiding and nearly 20 years living in Dahab between them. Our 4x4 support vehicle travels with us throughout, so anyone needing a break from camel riding always has that option.
Hike Hamata Canyon, meet the camels on the far side, ride on to the red-and-yellow-ochre Small Colored (Salama) Canyon, then continue by camel into camp at Melahis for our first night in the open desert.
A hike over a mountain top to Melahis Oasis and back to camp for lunch, then on by camel through Melahis Pass. At Naqb el Hamidat the terrain is too strenuous for camels carrying riders, so we dismount and walk the pass ourselves, camping near Closed Canyon.
Hike Closed Canyon, ride by camel to the oasis of Ein Khudra for lunch, then hike White Canyon — where the camels are waiting again at the top — and continue on to camp at Nawamis.
This is the longest, slowest, most complete way we know to see the Sinai.
A camel ride to the mountain range of Matamir, our camp for the fourth night.
On by camel to Gebl Makhroom — a mountain area ringed by sand dunes, our final camp, with time to explore the dunes and try sandboarding.
Our 4x4 Land Rover support vehicle takes us back to Dahab, concluding the trip.
